For its first edition, Glitching Lashes takes the form of a multimedia art festival, unfolding across both an exhibition space showcasing audiovisual artworks and evening screenings of artists' films. Bringing together the work of 15 artists and filmmakers from the international scene, the project aims to highlight contemporary video creation in its many forms while rethinking the conventions and production of moving-image practices.
Curated as a four-chapter narrative, Glitching Lashes explores the porosity between video practices and other media, including video games, online livestreams, and 3D simulations as material for filmmaking. Through these intersections, the festival interrogates the contemporary political landscape, representations of traumatic violence, the desire for otherness, and the ways in which our everyday actions are shaped.
