FUNDRAISING EVENT FOR JAMAICA

Don’t miss this special and consistent gig in two parts : A storytelling listening session, 100% Irie guaranteed, on the Becue top floor, with roots reggae party afterwards in Becue's party room downstairs.

Free contribution from 8€ for the lecture and party / or from 5€ for just the party. All proceeds from the doors will go to help locals affected by the hurricane, particularly those in Treasure Beach, which was already hit by another hurricane last year. An opportunity for you to show your solidarity, while immersing yourself in the history, soul and vibes of this important culture. Please spread the word!

MUSIC STORYTELLING

An immersive lecture/storytelling on history, mythologies and Jamaican music + a soulful ska-rocksteady-reggae party. Pierre Deruisseau, an independent researcher, has been sharing his research on powers, mythologies, and African-American music for over 15 years, in a creative format that combines conference, storytelling, and listening sessions.

PARTY

10pm 

All aboard the Zion Train! We'll take you on a journey through the music, history, and mythology of this prolific island, located just 17° from the equator. Shuffle, ska, rocksteady, reggae, dub... Dances to get back up, rhythms to keep you going, Babylon, solar mythology, Rastafarian lion men, musical inventiveness that has revolutionized global music production... (Stories of pirates and rebellious maroons included)

Avid record collector, Choma has been playing ska, rocksteady, and reggae for nearly 25 years. He organizes parties and concerts with various collectives  (Flying Platane Sound / Soul Vibration / ...), runs his own sound system - Ène Sacwé Sound Station - and hosts his weekly radio broadcast on Fréquence Plus.

Manu / Costanza is one of his long-time collaborators, with whom he also organized the Soul Vibration parties.

Dany Ben Felix aka Choukkou Selecta is the founder of the Africa Is In the Future festival, in Brussels.
