Rhizome is a transient collective, experimental exhibition project unfolding within an industrial space at Studio City Gate in Anderlecht (Brussels). A multimedia, interactive and participatory installation that uses the space itself as an instrument. The exhibition runs from 24 to 27 September 2026.

How can sound transform our relationship to space and to those who share it? What emerges from the (inter)relations between beings and places? Sound has this particular quality of traveling — it isn't only an object to contemplate. It's a medium to move through, a phenomenon that sculpts space and can create the conditions for a shared presence.

How do we compose together? How do we create the conditions for a collective game that outplays these logics of optimization — a slow, attentive, physical game that puts the body and listening back at the center?

To explore these questions, several artists and collectives based in Brussels and across Belgium are invited to come experiment in and with the space. Sound creators, visual artists, performers, musicians. Through encounters, workshops and exchanges taking place from 7 to 24 September 2026, we will attempt to compose this raw space together, to reveal its invisible layers.

Rhizome est un projet de monstration collective, éphémère et expérimentale qui se déploie au sein d'un espace industriel du studio City Gate à Anderlecht (Bruxelles). Une installation multimédia, interactive et participative, qui utilise l'espace comme un instrument. L'exposition est accessible du 24 au 27 septembre 2026.

Comment le son peut-­il transformer notre rapport à l'espace et à celle·ux qui le partagent ? Qu'est-­ce qui émerge des (inter)relations entre les êtres et les lieux ? Le son a cette particularité de voyager, il n'est pas uniquement un objet à contempler. C'est un milieu à traverser, un phénomène qui sculpte l'espace et peut créer les conditions d'une présence commune.

Comment composer à plusieurs ? Comment créer les conditions d'un jeu collectif qui déjoue ces logiques d'optimisation, un jeu lent, attentif, physique, qui remet le corps et l'écoute au centre ?

Pour explorer ces questions, plusieurs artistes et collectif basé·es à Bruxelles et en Belgique sont invité·es à venir expérimenter dans et avec le lieu. Créateur·ices sonores, plasticien·nes, performeur·euses, musicien·nes. À travers des rencontres, workshops et échanges qui se dérouleront du 7 au 24 septembre 2026, nous tenterons de composer ensemble cet espace brut, d'en révéler les strates invisibles.

Rhizome is een collectief, experimenteel tentoonstellingsproject dat plaatsvindt in een industriële ruimte van Studio City Gate in Anderlecht (Brussel). Een multimediale, interactieve en participatieve installatie die de ruimte zelf als instrument gebruikt. De tentoonstelling is toegankelijk van 24 tot 27 september 2026.

Hoe kan geluid onze relatie tot de ruimte en tot wie die ruimte deelt veranderen? Wat ontstaat er uit de (inter)relaties tussen wezens en plaatsen? Geluid heeft die bijzondere eigenschap dat het reist — het is niet enkel een object om te aanschouwen. Het is een medium om doorheen te bewegen, een fenomeen dat de ruimte vormgeeft en de voorwaarden kan scheppen voor een gedeelde aanwezigheid.

Hoe componeer je met meerdere mensen samen? Hoe creëer je de voorwaarden voor een collectief spel dat deze logica's van optimalisatie doorbreekt, een traag, aandachtig, fysiek spel dat het lichaam en het luisteren weer centraal stelt?

Om deze vragen te verkennen worden verschillende kunstenaars en collectieven, gevestigd in Brussel en elders in België, uitgenodigd om in en met de ruimte te experimenteren. Geluidskunstenaars, beeldend kunstenaars, performers, muzikanten. Via ontmoetingen, workshops en uitwisselingen die plaatsvinden van 7 tot 24 september 2026, proberen we deze ruwe ruimte samen te componeren, de onzichtbare lagen ervan bloot te leggen.
