We develop the method of "Samenscholen": to research different methods on how a multiple artistic practice can contribute to a collective, within and outside our domestic environment.
Samenschool aims to be an ally of the LGTBQIA+ community and aims to make a safe(r) space at all times. Samenschool is a place to learn and unlearn, we learn about intersectional feminism, consent, veganism and plant-based food, sharing economy, and several hybrid art practices who meet and show work and share living together … The rules: no discrimination and abuse allowed.
Different kinds of discussions, performances, workshops, exhibitions take place at Samenschool. Taking part to these events are neighbours and local and international artists. Some projects/activities are carried out on a regular basis, for example cooking together: every week we collect the leftovers from a local market and prepare food with them, usually combined with organizing other activities. The door is open for whoever wants to join. A library, that opens two times a month, is another element we are working on, archiving books publications and zines that develop ideas around: self-organization, DIY, DIWO, collective practices, art collectives, alternative pedagogies, networks, hacking, feminism, ecology, alternative economies, etc. The print atelier is another piece of the Samenschool that offers place for experimentation in print matter and wants to open-up to support different kinds of projects. In the Samenschool we welcome people to stay in our gorgeous residency rooms. In this way the new point of view lead to fresh ideas by breaking off the impersonal barriers as well as to give a space for reflection. We also operate from the “Avant-Garden-House” now located in a community garden nearby. This collaborative work is a wooden house that was put on wheels, it is a space to listen, share and remember. It is a tool for further experimentation on the feeling of “Samenschooling”. A nomadic Samenschool that plants seeds and grows trees for the future.
We support each other´s individual and collective projects and make things valuable by maintaining and putting energy in this organically growing network of members.
